Jazz Bass-Style Guitar Building Template – 10 mm MDF

This lutherie template is precision-machined from 10 mm MDF using my CNC machine to reproduce the outlines of the Jazz Bass model very closely. It is designed to guide your routing operations when building an electric bass guitar, providing high precision and intuitive handling.

A centerline is provided to help you position the template correctly on your wood blank. This reference makes centering easier and ensures an accurate fit when routing the instrument body.

Usage tips:

To secure the template to your wood blank, we recommend using strong double-sided tape or strategically placed clamps to prevent distortion. When routing, a router fitted with a bearing-guided flush-trim bit is ideal for following the template outline precisely. A 10 mm or 12 mm straight router bit is generally recommended for routing operations.

Make several shallow passes rather than one deep pass to protect the template and avoid tearing out the wood. MDF is a robust material, but it should be handled carefully to extend its service life.

After use, store your template away from moisture and dust to maintain its accuracy. A wall hanger or suitable storage sleeve will help protect it effectively.
